Shelby Township police responded to allegations of an inebriated driver travelling northbound on M-53’s southbound lanes.

Police Intervention:

Upon arriving at the location, officers observed a black Dodge Ram continuing to travel in the wrong direction. Swift action was taken to close off the freeway and safely apprehend the driver.

Remington was eventually stopped near 27 Mile Road, where she was found to exhibit signs of alcohol intoxication.

Arrest and Charges:

Following the stop, Remington underwent field sobriety tests, during which she reportedly refused a preliminary breath test.

Subsequently, she was taken into custody and charged the next day with operating while intoxicated and possession of analogs. She was issued a $25,000 10% cash/surety bond.

Law Enforcement Response:

Shelby Township Police Chief Robert Shelide commended the officers for their prompt response and stressed the importance of preventing potentially catastrophic accidents caused by impaired driving. He reaffirmed the department’s unwavering stance against driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs within the township.
